Scifii - Mind of a Psycho
Out-of-this-world artist creates new ‘punk-hop’ genre
FONTANA, CA – The unique sound and style of Southern California artist Scifii is out of this world … literally. He has developed a whole new genre that he calls “punk-hop,” and it’s a sound that is making a splash in the music industry all over the country. A blend of punk rock and traditional hip-hop, his sound is explosive and gets listeners hyped up and motivated to tackle the big things in their lives.
“When people hear it, they’ll understand this direction that I’m going,” Scifii said of his new sound. “I’m creating a new generation. It’s a breath of fresh air to the music industry. Good music is dying and I’m not in love with music anymore because of what’s been coming out lately. I want to bring back that good music. If I’m not the one who ushers in a new generation, I guarantee I’ll be the one who sparks it in someone else, and they will make something amazing.”
That new genre is put on full display in Scifii’s new album, “Vortex.” In line with what he’s trying to accomplish, this album features songs that are unorthodox and out of the norm. Scifii said he doesn’t want to be normal and hopes that people associate his music with an “out-of-this-world mindset.” The album serves as an anthem for a new movement – a rebel movement – that encourages music fans to go against the norm and challenge what society has taught.
“You can be and do anything you want in this life,” he said. “But as you get older people tell you that you can’t do anything you want in this life. This rebel movement is about sticking to the mind of a child – to the mindset that you can be and have anything you want in this life.”
The first single off the album is a song called “Head Crack,” which mixes dub step with pop, punk rock and hip-hop. Scifii said it’s an “explosive” song that will cause a listener’s head to “explode from the hype-ness.” He uses punk-rock vocals and mixes in hip-hop and rap. It’s an amp-up song that he said is about getting fans up and off their asses so that they can be hyped up and motivated.
The second single off the album that is gaining a lot of attention is a song called “Baseball Game.” It’s a song that is slightly pop, slightly techno and mostly EDM.
“I believe it’s gonna be big,” Scifii said. “It’s a different style – a cool style. It has a whole baseball theme to it that works as a metaphor to relationships. It’s got my sister, Kashie Khaos, featured on it and she’s a good singer. It’s basically a song about love.”
